The Junior League of Monmouth County (JLMC) members and other local women will wear the same little black dress for five consecutive days starting Monday to raise awareness of poverty in our local areas.
The Little Black Dress Initiative was initiated in 2014 by the Junior League of London to illustrate the effects poverty can have on a woman’s access to resources, self-confidence, and employment opportunities. The campaign will run from Monday, May 8th through Friday, May 12, 2023.
Participants will share their journey on their social media and wear a button that says “ask me about my dress” when out in public. The hope of the Little Black Dress Initiative is to spark engaging community dialogue as well as help to raise money to support the JLMC’s mission work.
