Honoring Joan Lucky

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of JLMC Sustainer Joan Lucky.  Joan served as JLMC President from 1976 to 1978 and was recognized with the Outstanding Leadership Award in 1974. In addition, she served as Chairman of the State Council of the Junior Leagues of New Jersey and Co-Chaired the JLMC Lochmere Designer Showcase. Joan took her JLMC training out into the community to serve on the Boards of the Two River Film Festival, the Monmouth Museum and Family and Children’s Service, as President of the Fair Haven PTA and the Rumson-Fair Haven Home and School Association, and on the advisory council for the Monmouth Conservatory.

Joan continued to promote the nonprofit community through her professional career as the host of The Monmouth Journal with Joan Lucky and the producer of the people section of the Two River Times.

The Junior League community mourns the loss of a prominent leader and longtime friend.  Joan was a tireless warrior on behalf of the League and never failed to promote the JLMC, often returning to help wherever she was needed.  Joan Lucky simply exemplified the mission of the Junior League. In 2011, the Joan Lucky Library on the second floor of JLMC Headquarters, at 55 Center Street in Rumson, was named in honor of her extraordinary and devoted service to the League.

The JLMC extends our deepest condolences to her husband Bob, her daughter Karen Katich (JLMC Sustainer) and the entire Lucky family.

Visitation at Thompson Memorial, Thursday 10/29  2 to 4 and 7 to 9.
Memorial service will be held Friday 10/30 at noon at the United Methodist Church, Broad Street followed by internment at Fairview Cemetery.
